Q: What is the Tri State Cyclones Baseball Inc. travel-baseball team?
A: We are a private organization that provides outstanding baseball to over 160 players in the Hudson Valley area with the opportunity to meet other equally outstanding players on common ground, and team them up according-to skill level-to play exciting baseball. Tri State Cyclones are open to all players; there are no league boundaries or guidelines to tryout for one of our teams.
Founded in 2004, Tri State Cyclones Baseball Inc. is a private youth sports organization that participates in travel leagues and tournaments in New York and the surrounding states (ages 9u thru 18u).
Q: Do The Cyclones offer additional Baseball Instruction and is it offered all year-round?
A: Yes, the Tri State Cyclones offer-at minimal cost-baseball instruction all year long indoors with our professional staff. Each player is different. Our experienced istructors with full baseball backgrounds have the ability to work with players on a one to one basis focusing on the need of the player not focusing on the same technigue for all.
Q: How much does the program cost?
A: Travel Baseball, like any other travelling sport, is not inexpensive. Whether it is hockey, football, soccer or even karate-the costs for equipment, insurance, stadium rentals, etc come at a high rate of expense. We try extremely hard to keep our costs down and to be competitive with other teams or organizations in the area. Unfortunately, most teams do not and cannot provide or compete with the extras that we try to provide-while still trying to keep the costs reasonable.
There are many expenses involved in running a successful travel baseball organization. The following is a assemblage of costs and fees incurred each season. Some of these costs are incorporated into the Player price.
> Insurance Fees
> League Fees
> Umpire Costs and Fees [The Tri State Cyclones only use certified tournament umpires for all games.]
> Tournament Fees
> Uniforms and Apparel
> Home Field Rentals
> Practice Field Rentals
> Maintenance and related expenses (lights, quick dry, field marker)
> Facility and Gym rentals for winter and year-round workouts
> Baseballs for each season
> Team equipment
> Administrative Fees
> Instructors Fees
> Misc. costs that are added unexpectedly
Q: What is included in the new player fees?
A: In addition to the aforementioned expenses, which are incorporated into the Player Price, each new player will receive:
> Fully embroidered Uniform
> Cyclones Hat
> Cyclones screen printed under shirt
> Cyclones bat bag
> Socks
> Belt
(Additional Cyclone Apparel is available - e.g. Jackets, Jerseys, Backpacks, etc. – at an additional cost)
Also included in the Player Price are of course – GAMES & TOURNAMENTS!!! Players can play as many as 20 games in a season. The spring season runs from April thru June, the summer season runs from June thru August and the fall season runs from September thru November. Our teams are ALWAYS busy.
Q: Is there any other way that the players can help in keeping costs down?
A: Yes. Fundraising always play a major role in trying to keep expenses down. There will be 3 fundraisers. The one for spring baseball usually is a candle fundraiser. There others will be a raffle ticket fundraiser for summer and fall baseball.
All players are to participate and complete our fundraising efforts. We only do 2 per year and our fundraising helps offset the costs of the tournaments we participate in. Those players who participate in the fundraising will receive discounts on upcoming season or other Cyclone Apparel such a batting jackets or sweatshirts.
The top seller will receive a gift certificate to purchase sporting goods at "Play It Again Sports" in Vails Gate
Proceeds of our Fundraisers are used to offset the costs and try to keep our prices to a minimum.
Q: Are the Player Prices different for returning players?
A: Yes. The returning player’s price can vary - depending on player needs - such as need for additional or replacement uniforms, e.g. pants, vest etc. The Tri State Cyclones Organization takes pride in its uniform and is committed to giving its players top quality uniforms and equipment. All Cyclone uniforms & accessories are embroidered with the Tri State Cyclone Baseball Inc. Logo.
Q: Are Player Pricing payments due “up-front”?
A: All players and their families are encouraged to pay “up-front” for their Player Fees, as costs begin piling up for us even before the season begins. However, we are not unsympathetic to the unfortunate times that we live in. Things are tough all over, but we don’t want the kids to have to suffer for our failing economy…so we do offer a payment plan for your convenience.
If the payment plan is chosen, you will be required to sign a promissory note and we urge you to follow through with each payment -when it is due - in order to avoid any late payments fees. A 10% late fee on any unpaid balances will incur monthly after the final payment due date (see below). We have to remain steadfast in our rules of payment. No player will begin play or receive their uniforms unless their balance is paid or payment plan schedule is agreed upon.
Your patronage and dedication to the payment plans are much appreciated.

Q: When are practices and games?
A: Practices are at the Managers and coaches discretion. Players are expected to show up on time and ready to warm up. A pre practice and game warm up routine will be taught to all players. They can do this without the coach present.
Home games will be played at New Windsor Little League Complex. Games are doubleheaders and are usually played on Sundays. Although, Friday and Saturday night games are a possibility. Players must arrive at least 45 minutes before game time fully dressed and prepared to warm up. Not being ready to practice or play will result in decreased playing time.
Q: What about the schedule?
A: As indicated on our schedule, numerous age-group games are planned each year, including several Tournament caliber competitions. The level of tournament play will range from above-average to the very best ... we do everything possible to enter top tournaments, and to get matched with the toughest teams. By doing so, our individual play and team performances are fully challenged. It is important that all of our tournament teams be well-rounded and competitive.
Q: What about lodging and meals?
A: Arrangements and payments for player lodging and meals are the family's responsibility
Q: What is involved in pre-tournament preparation?
A: It is imperative that our players (and coaches!) arrive in top condition, and well-prepared to contribute to our tournament successes. Every player needs to be doing push-ups and sit-ups, along with running at practices, in addition to daily baseball skill activities (e.g., swinging the bat, quick hands drills, fielding, throwing/long toss, pitching/catching, etc.). I recommend a lot of hitting off a T or soft-toss ... check your balance, bat speed, and limited head movement with each swing ... the better our overall level of fitness, the better we feel about ourselves, the better we play!
Q: What is expected with each tournament?
A: To always handle ourselves with class; to demonstrate superior sportsmanship, hustle, effort, and enthusiasm; to play well and with heart (...we will always strive to leave a lasting, favorable impression on all with whom we interact); to create wholesome, meaningful friendships; to leave each dugout, each ball park, the tournament site, the host community, and each other in better shape than we found them.
Q: Do you have a refund policy for player fees?
A: No. There is no refund of player fees for any player/family who for whatever reason, does not participate in a planned activity (instructional or tournament). If a player is not able to participate in the agreed-upon activity (instructional or tournament) because of injury, illness, family complications, school, all-star/post-season involvement, etc., the submitted fees may be applied to future program activities---again, THERE WILL BE NO ACTUAL REFUND OF SUBMITTED FEES FOR ANY REASON.
ALSO, If a player/family chooses to play for another team/opportunity, the player/family thereby fails to follow through with his/their commitment to participate in agreed-upon season/ tournament(s), he/they not only relinquish the related player fee(s), but they also jeopardize opportunities to play with the Tri State Cyclones organization in the future. There is no pro-rating or refund if tournament/team participation is cancelled, or if tournament duration is shortened for any reason (e.g., inclement weather, team losing out of medal contention early, other teams not showing up, manager/coaches' decision, etc.). However, in some circumstances, the player fee may be partially/fully applied to future, agreed-upon age-group activities (instructional or tournaments), provided that the player/family have handled all participation commitments in a fully responsible, timely, and appropriate manner, and who thus remain in good standing.
